To fulfill my practicum for the Public Leadership Scholars Program I decided to enroll in ENES210. ENES210 is a "multi-disciplinary course that helps students learn the principles of entrepreneurial opportunity analysis and decision-making in an increasingly dynamic and technically-inclined society". This course grouped students together and through structured learning enabled the groups to create a feasible invention that could potentially enter the consumer market. My team designed an app that would serve as an online college advisor. The app acted as an all-in-one college adviser that could provide students with standardized test score practice, college essay writing tips, and general advice for a strong college application. To aid students who lack financial literacy, the app also offered tutorials on filling out complex financial aid forms such as the FAFSA document. This was a very rewarding course as it provided me with the most integral information on how to create a succesful start up. Additionally this course gave me an abundance of experience with longterm group collaboration as well as forced me into leadership position that I would have not taken otherwise. While at times this course pushed me outside of my comfort zone, I gained an abundant amount of valuable experience. I would recommend this course to any individual in the scholars program who has an interest in entrepreneurship and group collaboration.

The file inserted above includes my final project for my ENES210 practicum fulfillment course. In my opinion this project demonstrates my growth as a leader, student, and professional. Besides the foundation given to us by the professor my group had very few interactions with the course leader. We were essentially on our own when creating our invention. This benefited my leadership qualities as in many cases I was required to take the leadership position and guide my group through the innovation process. My academic abilities as a student were also strengthened through this project since it required a substantial amount of time and dedication, 16 weeks worth to be exact. Finally, my abilities as a professional increased dramatically. Before this course I lacked knowledge on what was required to create a start-up. While I cannot guarantee that every start-up I work on will succeed at-least I have the basic skills and a solid foundation on how to bring an idea to fruition if I ever choose to do so.
